Eduardo Kac, transgenic artist

Eduardo Kac, transgenic artist. Kac uses biotechnology, often genetic engineering, to explore and critique scientific techniques and advances. Here he is stood next to one of his works, the ‘Plantimal’, a petunia that has had one of Kac’s own genes inserted into it. The gene was taken from Kac’s blood and is expressed in the red veins of the flowers.
